About us

The Academy for Sustainable Innovation and Scientific Research Foundation is an independent non-profit organisation, established in the city of Plovdiv in 2025. It was founded on the initiative of the Centre for Cleantech and Biomass Resource Efficiency (CCBRE), with the clear aim of supporting and advancing applied science and innovation in the Plovdiv region and across Bulgaria.

The Foundation brings together academic experience, research capacity and entrepreneurial spirit in order to turn scientific achievements into real, applicable solutions that benefit society and the economy. We believe that the country's sustainable development depends on our ability to connect knowledge with practice — and to build an environment in which research results reach the people, enterprises and institutions that need them.

As an academy at its core, the Foundation places education and qualification at the heart of its mission. We develop people — scientists, specialists and entrepreneurs — because sustainable innovation arises where knowledge is continuously passed on, built upon and applied.

We are registered as a non-profit legal entity carrying out public-benefit activities. This means that we work in the interest of society as a whole, not for private profit. We adhere to high standards of transparency — our activities and finances are subject to an annual independent audit and public reporting, to ensure that every lev is used for its intended purpose. The organisation is non-partisan and serves no political or religious interests.

Through its work, the Foundation acts as a connecting link between universities, scientific organisations, business and local government bodies — creating the conditions for joint projects, knowledge transfer and the development of scientific and innovation capacity in the region.
